Margaret Ives Community Children’s Centre
Norwood, South Australia
Margaret Ives Community Children’s Centre has three desktop computers and four laptops. All but one desktop access the server and the printers wirelessly. The 22 staff use the computers primarily to prepare and print out reports and photos of the children at the centre.
The Xeon based server is running Microsoft Small Business Server 2008 with Exchange 2007, which integrates perfectly with Windows 7 Professional. All of the client computers at Margaret Ives have been upgraded to Windows 7 Professional and Office 2007 using a not-for-profit volume licence agreement.
Staff who request access from home are given VPN privileges, giving them full access to the server to access emails through Outlook and files on the server. Staff who only need to access emails from home can do this without the VPN by using Outlook Web Access.
