The office at Golding Wines in the Adelaide Hills has 4 client machines on the local network serviced by a server operating on Windows XP Pro. The server operates as a central file storage site as well as a printer server for their colour laser printer and thermal label printer. The colour laser printer is also a scanner and delivers documents as PDFs to a folder on the server where it is accessible from any computer on the network.
The residence at Golding Wines is approximately 500 metres from the office and they share a phone line, making it impossible to have an ADSL service at both locations. A wireless link is instead used to connect the house to the network at the office, giving computers in the house access to the file on the server, printers and most importantly the internet connection.
Employees of Golding Wines can connect to the network remotely using a VPN connection. The VPN gives access to files and printers on the network from anywhere in the world with an internet connection.
