Notebooks without Windows, boosted tax break for small business, notebook reliability, donated computer ready to go, and Christmas specials. Read on for full details.
Notebooks without Windows
Packet Networks can now supply a range of notebooks that do not come preinstalled with Windows. Most manufacturers preinstall Windows, requiring Linux users to pay for a Windows licence that they will not use and cannot sell. The range of notebooks is supplied by Leader, one of Australia’s largest suppliers of computer hardware, come well specced and very well priced.
Packet Networks can either supply these notebooks to you as a blank slate, or preinstalled with Ubuntu Linux.
Please email or telephone to get a quote on a laptop without Windows.
Tax break for small businesses
Small businesses have until the end of the year to acquire assets to be eligible for a bonus 50% tax deduction. If you have been considering upgrading your current computers or increasing the number of computers in your office, now is a good time for small business owners. Full details are available here.
Please email or telephone if you would like to discuss upgrade or expansion options.
Notebook reliability
A two year study conducted by SquareTrade on a minimum of 1,000 notebooks from 9 manufacturers has concluded that Asus is the most reliable notebook brand with the least number of failures. We suggest you take the three year data with a grain of salt as these values are projected by linear extrapolation, but the one- and two-year values make for interesting reading if you are in the market for a new laptop. Read the full report here (PDF, 111KB).
Packet Networks supply and recommend Asus notebooks.
Computer made from donated parts
A computer made from donated parts is ready to go. Please email us with suggestions for a recipient who could use an entry-level computer suitable for OpenOffice, email and web-browsing.
